I’m so happy to finally be making flannel boards again! I’m not currently doing storytime but on Friday I’m helping my co-worker with one. It’s going to be Valentine’s Day themed, of course, so I suggested we read Mama Loves You By Caroline Stutson. I love using this book for Valentine’s Day but you could even use it for mom or family themes. If you haven’t read it, you must! It’s a cute rhyming story about different animals and the kids guess what’s going to be on the page. It begins with, I am yours, you are mine, mama loves you…Porcupine! And so on. It’s a very tiny book, so it was the perfect candidate for a flannel story. All I did was cut out felt hearts and print pictures of the animals and glue them on one side. Then, as we read the story we will flip them over to reveal each animal. Simple but cute!
I love my new camera, now I just need to practice taking pictures that aren’t crooked 😛
A simple but lovely idea. Nice to see you making and sharing flannel boards again.
You’ll see this and other great Flannel Board ideas on the Flannel Friday roundup at loonsandquines.blogspot.com.
Thank you!
Welcome back to work and to Flannel Friday! That’s a really cute story to flannelize.
Thank you! And an easy one to make quickly 🙂
“Simple but cute!” is a PERFECT description! I love this idea and plan to make it for Mother’s Day storytimes. Thank you!
Congratulations on your new camera! What kind is it?
I have a camera that I used to use but it is so hard to get the pictures downloaded at work. 😦 Most of the time I use my Ipod but the colors sometimes go wonky with it when I am doing close-up pictures. I do love using the Ipod at storytimes though ~ because I can send the picture in an email immediately to the adult that is with the child. It is a great way to connect the library and home for my families. 🙂
Oh Mother’s Day is a perfect one to use it for!
Well, I didn’t get a new camera, it was a new phone WITH a fancy camera. I joined the Apple cult and got an iPhone and let me just say the camera is awesome. I can take pics of my kids when they’re moving and it doesn’t turn out blurry! I have a fancy Nikon at home, but it’s just so big to bring to work. And it’s much easier on my cell to just email the pics so I can post to my blog.
I also use my iPhone to take all my FF pictures. It is so easy to email the pics to my computer for blogging. It is the only way I can get it all done. I do have an eye-fi card for my regular digital camera that transmits the photos to my laptop over the wifi at home, but it’s too much to lug that all in for blogging purposes.
And welcome back to work and blogging!
I love that book for toddlers and this is a wonderful flannel board. Thank you!
I’m planning to hijack this one for mother’s day also- I love it when people come up with ways to flannelize “too small” books.
So many applications for this flannel story. Simple but so effective. Thank you.
This is so cute! I will use it for Mother’s Day and of course credit you. Thanks!
You are welcome, and thanks for visiting 🙂
