Flannel Friday: Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep

on May 11, 2012

I am so excited to share my Flannel Friday with you all this week!  Mainly because it is ADORABLE.  I based my flannel board on the book Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep By: Teri Sloat.  Now, I will apologize now if you don’t already have this book in your collection, good luck getting it, it seems to be out of print grrrrr.  It’s a book I forgot I used to use in storytime when I first started working in the children’s department.  It’s about a farmer who shears all his sheep and takes their wool.  The sheep are very concerned and upset so they follow Farmer Brown to see what he is doing with their wool.  They are constantly complaining that they are cold and they want their wool back.  Farmer Brown travels to get the wool cleaned, combed, spun, dyed and it’s then he realizes the sheep are freezing!  So he takes them back to his farm and makes each of them a…CARDIGAN!  It’s a really cute rhyming story.  I figured this would be a great story to adapt to a flannel board.  Sorry I don’t have a template, I actually drew my sheep all by myself!  I can’t draw at all, so I was very proud 🙂  So here it is…

Wooly Sheep!

Naked Sheep!

Cardigan Sheep!

  1. It would be pretty easy to come up with a rhyme/story based on the concept at least, if you can’t find the book.

See, I get yelled at by patrons, reset PINs, explain holds, and unjam copiers all day. I really get jealous you guys get to do colorful and exciting stuff. like you have meaning in your life. There has got to be a way for flannel to make it to the adult side.
