Narrating Tales of Preschool Storytime

Pajamarama Party!

Last week I did what I like to call a “glorified storytime”.  It’s a special program outside of the regular ST session but it’s very similar to the same setup as a ST except I may do another activity and I usually do a fun food craft.  This one was called a Pajamarama Party and the kids came in their PJs and brought their favorite stuffed animal with them.  It was so much fun and the kids all loved it!  Here is a list of the things I did:

Read-Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late By Mo Willems

Sang-5 Little Monekys Jumping on the Bed

Read-If Elephants Wore Pants (with the flannel board)

Sang-If you’re Happy and You Know it

Read-Dino VS Bedtime By Bob Shea

Parachute Games-We wiggled it then we threw our stuffed animals on top and shook it like crazy!  The kids loved this part and went nuts.  Then they got to run and find their animals.  I tried doing a “Merry Go Round” by walking in a circle while holding on, but the kids wanted nothing to do with that and just continued to shake it.  Oh well, as long as they were having fun!  Next time I will be sure to have a whistle or something more than my voice to grab their attention, it got a little noisy.

Craft- Night time mobile. I used our swirl die cut and we attached a moon and stars to it and tied a piece of yarn on top.  They liked them!

Food-We made sheep cookies!  These of course were a huge hit 🙂

Bug Storytime

Last week I did my last storytime for the session.  We talked all about bugs!  Here is my handout:

Bug Storytime Handout

I found this craft on Pinterest and just had to do it with the little ones.  My wonderful hubby drilled all the holes in the eggs for me.  The tutorial says to just use a thumb tack to poke the holes but I found them to be slightly too small to fit the pipe cleaners.  The kids had a BLAST making them.  Here are some pics of how mine turned out:

The tea lights fit just right inside the eggs and they flicker like a real candle so it gave the perfect firefly effect!

Firefly Recycled Bottle Craft

This craft program that I did turned out so awesome!  I found the idea here on Pinterest and it was so easy.  I knew the kids would like it, but I had no idea how much they would love it.  We even used glow in the dark paint so it glowed even more.  We have a kitchen in our program room that is completely dark, so they had fun going in and out looking at their fireflies glow.  AND we are saving the environment by reusing plastic water bottles!  Here is what mine looked like, nothing too exciting but you get the idea.

Sheep Storytime

Last week my theme for Storytime was sheep!  Here is my handout:

And here is the craft we did.  It turned out SO cute.

I bet you all are wondering how this cute little guy is standing up huh?  Well take a look and see…

Clothespins!  It worked out so well and you can clip stuff to them, pictures or whatever.  This was great too because I was able to use die cuts for everything but the legs.  Enjoy!
