Elephant Storytime

Here is my elephant storytime handout!

Elephant Storytime

Here is the craft to go along with my storytime.  I got the template from the book Cut and Create!  At the Zoo.  We have a whole collection of these books with all sorts of templates, they are great to use if you have volunteers to cut them out.

Alligator Storytime

I want to start adding all my storytimes that I use weekly so that other people may get ideas from the things I’ve done.  I decided it would just be easier to upload the handout I give to the parents rather than typing it all out.  It’s includes everything I do!  I also include a color sheet on the back of my handouts to go with the theme for that week.  Then, I will just add a picture and short description of the craft we did.  Feel free to print and use any templates I provide, I’m here to share.  I hope this is helpful to some of you, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Alligator Storytime Handout

Alligator Template

The alligators are cut from cardstock (more sturdy) and punched with tiny holes for the brass fastener to go in.  Every kid is given about 10 triangle-shaped teeth to glue on along with a googly eye, or you could just draw it on.  I don’t worry too much about the triangles being exactly the same size, the kids don’t mind!

Flannel Friday: Five Little Jellyfish

Here is a simple rhyming flannel board you can use for various themes.  It’s Five Little Jellyfish!  I made their legs from ribbon, which got slightly squished in storage, but I still think they look cute!

Five Little Jellyfish

5 little jellyfish swimming by the shore, the yellow one got lost and that left 4.

4 little jellyfish swimming in the sea, the blue one swam far, far away and that left 3.

3 little jellyfish in the ocean so blue, the red one took a seahorse ride and that left 2.

2 little jellyfish swimming in the sun, the orange one took a dive and that left 1.

1 little green jellyfish swimming all alone, it was time for him to go home and that left none!

Flannel Friday: Alpha-Gator (folder story)

This week I am sharing another folder story, but like the last one, you can make it into a flannel board as well!  The story is called Alpha-Gator and it’s a fun story about an alligator and how he ate the alphabet.  I didn’t take a picture of all the cards inside, but you get the idea.  Also,  I normally don’t sing the song that goes with it, but I’m sure the kids would love it.  I hope you all enjoy!

*Don’t mind my toe in the picture 🙂 *

Flannel Friday: If Elephants Wore Pants

This week I made a great storytime book into a flannel board.  It’s called If Elephants Wore Pants by Henriette Barkow.  It’s a rhyming story about a boy who dreams of elephants and the different pants that they might wear.  The illustrations are wonderful too.  I just love a good picture book with good illustrations.  The story is great by itself but I thought it would be even more exciting and entertaining for the kids if there was a flannel board to go along with it.  I gave my elephant some underwear even though he doesn’t have any in the story.  I didn’t want him to be naked while we changed him into his pants!  I hope you all enjoy!  Be sure to check out Cate’s Blog  for the Flannel Friday roundup later on today.
